Cons:
Showing of the sidebar even in pop-up windows is quite disgusting – I click the re-tweet button in a post and even then, the sidebar shows off in the pop-up also.
Because it is a fully loaded browser, it takes more time to boot as compared to chrome, Firefox and safari. More the number of sidebar apps and add-ons more is the time taken to start the browser.

கடந்த மே மாதம் 26-ம் தேதி காளஹஸ்தி கோயில் கோபுரம் இடிந்து விழுந்தது. கோயில் கோபுரம் விரிசல்விடத் தொடங்கிய பின்னர்தான், அந்தக் கோபுரத்தின் தன்மை குறித்து ஆராயப்பட்டது. சுமார் 500 ஆண்டுகள் பழமை வாய்ந்த, வெறும் செங்கற்களாலும் சுண்ணாம்பாலும் கட்டப்பட்ட அந்தக் கோபுரத்தை இனியும் காப்பாற்ற முடியாது என்று தீர்மானித்து, அந்தக் கோபுர வாசல்வழியாக பொதுமக்கள் யாரும் செல்ல முடியாதபடி முன்பே தடுப்பு போடப்பட்டிருந்தது. அந்தக் கோபுரம் இடிந்து விழுந்தபோது மனித உயிருக்குச் சேதமில்லை என்றாலும், அந்தக் கோயில் கோபுரத்தில் குடியிருந்த 200க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குரங்குகள் அனைத்தும் மடிந்தன.

இந்தச் சம்பவத்தை தமிழ்நாடு அறநிலையத் துறை ஒரு எச்சரிக்கையாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டிய அவசியம் உள்ளது. ஏனென்றால் தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள பல நூறு கோயில்கள் குறைந்தபட்சம் 500 ஆண்டுகள் முதல் 1000 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் அதிகமான பழமை கொண்டவை. இந்தக் கோயில்களுக்கு செயல் அலுவலர்கள் உண்டே தவிர, அறநிலையத் துறையில் பாதுகாப்பாளர் (கன்சர்வேட்டர்) என்ற பதவியே கிடையாது.
கோயில் கற்சிலைகளுக்கும் கற்தூண்களுக்கும் ரசாயன வண்ணப்பூச்சு நடத்துவதால் அவற்றின் புராதனத் தன்மை கெட்டுப்போகிறது. ஆனால் அதைப்பற்றி யாரும் கவலைப்படுவதில்லை. கோயிலில் மின்விசிறி, குழல்விளக்கு பொருத்துவதற்காக கற்தூண்களில் இரும்புக் கம்பிகளைக் கொண்டு இறுக்கியும், துளையிட்டும் கற்தூண்களைச் சேதப்படுத்துவதும் நின்றபாடில்லை.
மதுரை மீனாட்சியம்மன் கோயிலில் பத்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு, மணற்சலவை என்ற பெயரில் சிலைகளின் மீது மணலை வேகமாக அடித்துத் தூய்மை செய்ததில் சிலைகளின் வழவழப்பான பாகங்கள் சிதைந்துபோயின. பின்னாளில் இந்த நடைமுறை நிறுத்தப்பட்டாலும்கூட, ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளைக் கடந்த சிலைகளுக்கு ஒரே நாளில் நிகழ்த்தப்பட்ட சேதத்தை, மாற்றியமைக்க முடியவில்லை, முடியவும் முடியாது.
தமிழ்நாட்டில் மிகப் புராதனமான கோயில்கள் ஆயிரத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்டவை உள்ளன. இவற்றில் உள்ள மிக அழகான சிலைகளையும், தேர்களையும், கோபுரங்களையும் பாதுகாக்க வேண்டுமென்றால் மாவட்ட வாரியாக ஒரு கோயில் பாதுகாப்பாளரை நியமிக்க வேண்டியது மிகமிக அவசியம். இது காலத்தின் தேவையும்கூட.
இந்தியத் தொல்லியல் துறையின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் உள்ள கோயில்களை மூன்றாண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை சோதிக்கவும், அக்கோயில்களுக்குத் தேவையான ரசாயனப்பூச்சு மற்றும் பராமரிப்புகளைப் பரிந்துரைக்கவும் பாதுகாப்பாளர் என்ற பதவி உள்ளது. புதுதில்லியில் உள்ள தேசிய அருங்காட்சியக நிலையத்தில் பாரம்பரியச் சின்னங்கள் பாதுகாப்புக்கான பட்டப்படிப்பு உள்ளது. இதில் ஆண்டுதோறும் 15 மாணவர்கள் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளப்படுகிறார்கள். மைசூரில்கூட, இத்தகைய பாரம்பரியப் பாதுகாப்பு தொடர்பான பயிற்சி வகுப்புகள் உள்ளன. ஆனால், தமிழ்நாட்டில் புனரமைப்புப் பணிகளின்போது சிவில் என்ஜினீயரிங் முடித்த பொறியாளர்களைப் பயன்படுத்துகிறார்களே தவிர, பாதுகாப்பாளர் என்ற பதவியோ அல்லது அத்தகைய நபரின் மேற்பார்வையோ இருப்பதில்லை.
தென்னிந்தியாவின் மரபுச் செல்வங்களில் மிக முக்கியமானவை கோயில்களும் அவற்றின் கற்சிலைகளும், கற்தூண் மண்டபங்களும்தான். ஒவ்வொரு கல்லும் ஒரு விதமான தனித்துவம் கொண்டவை. ஒவ்வொரு கல்லையும் அதன் தன்மைக்கேற்ப பராமரிப்புப் பணிகளை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும். கருவறையில் உள்ள மூலவரின் சிலை எத்தகைய கல்லால் ஆனது என்பதைப் பொறுத்தே, அதற்கான சிறப்புத் தைலம் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டு பூசப்படுகிறது. இது அச்சிலையை பல ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பாதுகாக்கும் ரசாயனப் பூச்சு. சில ஆலயங்களில் அபிஷேக முறைகள் கூட காப்பு முறைகளாகவே (பிரிசர்வேடிவ் டெக்னிக்) அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. பன்னிரண்டு ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை குடமுழுக்கு நடத்துவதும்கூட, புனரமைப்புப் பணியை மையப்படுத்தித்தான்.
இவ்வாறாக, நம் முன்னோர்கள் இத்தனை ஆயிரம் காலம் காப்பாற்றி நம்மிடம் கொடுத்துவிட்டுச் சென்றுள்ள கோயில்களையும் அதன் சிலைகளையும் காப்பாற்ற வேண்டுமானால், மாவட்ட வாரியாக அல்லது மண்டல வாரியாக ஒரு கோயில் பாதுகாப்பாளரை நியமித்து, கோயில்களை முறையாக ஆய்வுசெய்து, ஆலோசனை வழங்கச் செய்வது மிகமிக அவசியம்.
வடஇந்தியாவில் கற்சிலைகள் குறைவு. தென்னிந்தியாவில் மட்டுமே கற்சிலைகள் அதிகம். ஆகவே சிலைகளைப் பாதுகாக்கவும், பல்வகை கற்களின் தன்மைகளை அறிந்திருக்கவும் கூடியவராக சிறந்த நபர்களைத் தேர்வு செய்வதும் அவசியம். அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழகத்திலேயே, பாரம்பரியச் சின்னங்களைப் பாதுகாக்கும் பாடப்பிரிவை தொடங்குவதையும்கூட வரவேற்கலாம்.
ஒரு நாகரிகத்தின் அடையாளமாகக் கருதப்படுவது இலக்கியமும், கட்டடக்கலையும்தான். பண்டைத் தமிழர்கள் இதை நன்கு உணர்ந்திருந்ததால்தான், நமது இலக்கியத்தையும், கட்டடக்கலையையும் மதம் சார்ந்ததாக அமைத்தனர். அதனால்தான், அவை காலத்தைக்கடந்து இன்றுவரை தமிழர்களின் பெருமையைப் பறைசாற்றிய வண்ணம் இருக்கின்றன. மூவேந்தர்களின் மாடமாளிகைகளும் கூடகோபுரங்களும் அழிந்துவிட்டன. ஆனால், அவர்கள் எழுப்பிய ஆலயங்களும், அந்த ஆலயங்களின் வானளாவிய கோபுரங்களும் தமிழனின் நாகரிகத்தை மட்டுமல்ல, கட்டடக்கலையில் பண்டைத் தமிழருக்கு இருந்த வல்லமையையும் இன்றும் நிலைநிறுத்துகின்றன.

( I too feel so bad about the services of BSNL. 99% of the time the customer care people would never take up our calls. Broad band speed is very low and oscillating all the times in the down line. I fully agree with Mr. Pramod's feelings about BSNL.)

i have a BSNL Land Phone connection since last 35 yearsits number is 0474-2747159. Unfortunately their services have been pathetic and horrible . we already have around 4 working mobile phone connections and using landphone just because of some emotional factors (and for Broadband)
Please take note of following incidents that has left me totally against of their horrible customer care :
1)I activated BSNL broadband few years back. In my observation your BB service will breakdown around 3 to 4 times in an year. Each time I have to wait days weeks or months to return it to a normal working status. In my experience I understood BSNL is a body conducted without any management/ responsible officials. Whenever I call your guys they will give me another two numbers will ask to connect other dept. nobody will attend our calls and give a convincing reply.
Finally we need to make complaint with GM of BSNL and he will resolve the issue within 24 yrs. presently internet connectivity is fine and no issues.
2)Latest and salient issue is . My BILL payment is linked with federal bank account. Last bill was included a security deposit around 500 rs which I already paid. I was forced to put my effort on it and lost around 3 hours by calling your irresponsible officers (nobody attended my calls. I made around 12 Phone calls for it) . Finally I contacted GM and his response was nice he admitted that it is a billing issue and will be reversed on next bill as the they have already submitted the bills to my bank for collection. I agreed and new bill came yesterday. I couldn’t find any adjustment in new bill also. I feel irritated on your attitude. I made a complaint to BSNL officials and requested to terminate the connection. They requested me to contact bank and block the payment. I contacted bank and explained their inability to block that payment as it is fully software automated . I contacted BSNL GM and he told he will send a new bill after adjusting over charged amount. I got the new bill and I made the payment directly after discussing the same with BSNL officials > I thought the issue is settled next day I got bank statement (By mail) they have paid BSNL epay again. In short I paid the bill twice. I mailed the same to BSNL officials and I didn’t got any responses regarding it. (My mobile number is 9539059995) they are making some vain queries regarding working of phone. I think they are not organized to handle consumer complaints.
Such irresponsible acts of the BSNL Customer Care department ( I doubt they have a proper customer care system) are quite dis-heartening never matches the credibility which BSNL is having a worldwide reputation, it really damages the image of BSNL in my mind.
It’s a pity that a company like BSNL has such a pathetic system in operation which fails to take an action for such simple issues.
I request you to take steps to redress my complaint and take appropriate action against these erring personnel at the earliest
Camera Phones are one of the fastest growing segments of the digital camera market and with the improvements in the quality of what is being offered in some phones (higher mega pixels, better lenses, high capacity storage) some believe that they are beginning to win market share away from the low end offerings of many digital camera manufacturers. Our current poll on “take anywhere cameras” reveals, that many of you are using camera phones regularly.
Unfortunately many of the pictures being taken with Camera Phones are poor in quality. This might partially be a result of lower quality cameras – but it is also often a result of poor photographic technique.
Following are 13 tips for Camera Phone owners to help them get the most from their cameras phones:
1. Light Your Subject Well
The better lit your subject is the clearer your image is likely to be. If possible shoot outside or turn on lights when shooting inside. If you’re turning on lights in a room to add extra light to your shot be aware that artificial light impacts the color cast in your shots and you might want to experiment with white balance to fix it.
Some cameras come with a built in flash or light – this can really lift a shot and add clarity to it, even if you’re shooting outside If your camera doesn’t have a flash or light you should avoid shooting into bright lights as you’ll end up with subjects that are silhouetted.
2. Get Close to Your Subject
One of the most common mistakes with camera phone images is that their subject ends up being a tiny, unrecognizable object in the distance. Camera phone images tend to be small due to low resolution (although this is changing) – so fill up your view finder with your subject to save having to zoom in on the subject in editing it later (which decreases quality even more).
Having said this, getting too close on some model camera phones creates distortion and focusing issues (particularly if the camera phone doesn’t have a macro or close focusing mode).
3. Keep Still
As with all digital photography, the steadier your camera phone is when taking your shot the clearer your image will be.
This is especially important in low light situations where the camera will select longer shutter speeds to compensate for the lack of light. One trick is to lean your camera phone (or the hand holding it) against a solid object (like a tree, wall, ledge) when taking shots.
Keep in mind that many camera phones also suffer from ’shutter lag’ (ie the time between when you press the shutter and when the camera takes the shot can be a second or so). This means you need to hold the camera still a little longer to ensure it doesn’t take a shot as you’re lowering it away from the subject.
4. Edit Images Later
Whilst it can be fun to use your camera phone’s inbuilt editing and effects, editing pictures later on your computer produces much better quality images. Take your shots in color at high resolution to keep your options open on how to treat it later.
You can always make it black and white on your computer, but you can’t make it color if you take it in Black and White mode.
5. Don’t Throw Away ‘mistakes’
Remember that on many phones the quality of the screen will not be as good as your computer’s. So if possible hang onto your shots until you can get them on your PC. You might just find that they come alive on a quality monitor. You’ll also find that even ‘mistakes’ and blurred shots can actually be quite usable (in an abstract kind of way)
6. Avoid Using the Digital Zoom
As tempting as it might be to zoom in on your subject when taking your picture (if you have a zoom feature on your camera phone), if the zoom is a ‘digital zoom’ it will decrease the quality of your shot to use it (you’ll end up with a more pixelated shot)..
Plus you can always edit your shot later using photo editing software on your computer.
Of course some camera phones are beginning to hit the market with ‘optical zooms’ – these are fine to use as they don’t enlarge your subject by enlarging pixels.
7. Experiment with White Balance
An increasing number of camera phones come with adjustable white balance which allows you to modify color balance in your images based on shooting conditions. Experiment with this feature to get a good feel for the impact that it has on your shots. I find that it impacts different camera phones differently. Read your manual to find out how it works on your phone.
8. Take loads of Shots and Experiment
The beauty of all forms of digital photography (including that of camera phones) is the ability to shoot off many shots quickly and without cost. This means you can experiment with different modes and composition and discard those that you don’t want to keep.
Camera phones are particularly good for experimenting with new angles and perspectives – shoot from down low, up high, close up etc and you’ll end up with interesting and fun shots.
9. Follow Rules of Composition (and then break them)
Learn some basic composition ‘rules’. (For example – the “rule of third” – i.e. don’t place your subject squarely in the middle of your frame but a third of the way in). Simple tips like this can bring life to your photos.
But then also remember that the beauty of a camera phone is its ability to break all conventions – some of the best shots around break all the rules. So shoot from the hip, the floor, up high, up close – anything goes.
10. Keep Your Lens Clean
One of the challenges with many camera phones is keeping them maintained and clean. Phones spend a lot of time in pockets, in bags and being used in all manner of weather and conditions. As a result they get dirty and can easily become damaged – fingerprints are a common problem on camera lenses – especially if your phone doesn’t have a lens cover. From time to time clean the lens of your camera using a soft cloth (sunglasses cleaning cloths are great).
11. Observe Camera Phone Etiquette
While there is no formal set of rules for using camera phones – it is worth considering how you use it and what impact it might have upon others. There are many cases of camera phones being abused to take sneaky or voyeuristic photos. Ask permission to photograph strangers, consider restrictions on the use of cameras in places like theaters and concerts etc.
12. Use the highest resolution possible on your camera phone
Some phones allow you to choose what resolution you want to take photos at. It almost goes without saying (but we like to state the bleeding obvious) that the higher your resolution the clearer your shot will be. This is especially true for camera phones which often have sensors of under 1 mega pixel in them. Keep in mind however that the higher the resolution the larger the file size of the images you take – this means if you want to send images they can end up taking a long time to send.
